Resources Around The Internet

Before lockdown kicked off, some of us spent a lot of time online! Now we’re even more connected to our devices. There is so much out there that claims to be Christian and to help us in our walk with Jesus. The volume of content available is overwhelming. Some of it is great and some of it is far from great. Peter has listed some of the stuff online that he loves to go back to, hopefully you will find it helpful…

The Bible Project

I’m a big fan of The Bible Project. The Bible Project is an animation studio that produces short Bible videos. These videos are either about a book of the Bible or a Biblical theme. Probably the most helpful of the videos are the overviews of each book of the Bible.

The Bible Project can be found at www.bibleproject.com or by searching The Bible Project on YouTube

Helpful Christian Analysis from The Gospel Coalition and Tim Challes

The Gospel Coalition

The Gospel Coalition is full of blogs, articles and podcasts. A wide range of issues that face Christians are dealt with. Many of the resources are based on issues that are currently facing Christians. It is a useful resource to help us begin to think about how Jesus impacts are day to day lives.

The app can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store. Online access is at www.thegospelcoalition.org

Tim Challes

Tim Challies is a pastor in Toronto. He is a gifted and insightful writer and his website is worth a look. Two things he does very well. First, he is a great reviewer of books. If you’re wanting to do some extra reading on a particular book of the Bible or a topic that you’ve been thinking about for awhile, challlies.com is a good place to start. His book reviews will point you in the right direction. Secondly, he currently has a section entitled, “All the Free and Discounted stuff for these Difficult Times”. This is a great list of resources that are available at this time of lockdown.

New City Catechism

For hundreds of years catechisms have been used to help believers learn the important teachings of the Bible in a question and answer format. The New City Catechism draws together questions from several catechisms to give a good overview of Bible teaching in 52 questions. There are also suggested Bible readings for each question as well as songs to help kids remember the answers.

There are several ways the catechism can be accessed but the easiest is through the free app available for Android or Apple. It can also be accessed at newcitycatechism.net

Sovereign Grace Music

One of the many things we miss about gathering together is being able to sing together. Sovereign Grace Music have been involved in the production of worship music for over 30 years. You’ll find new arrangements of old favourites as well as new songs. At the heart of these songs is a desire to worship God our creator and Saviour.

Great Kids and Family Materials

We know Scripture Union from their work with schools. They also have a very good website with plenty of resources on it especially for kids and young people. Have a look around and see what you could share with your kids or young people. content.scriptureunion.org.uk

You should also check out CEF and Good Book Company by clicking on the links Here. CEF have made all thier material available for the duration of the lockdown, and Good Book Co have videos of all their kids books on You Tube.

Open Doors

At this time it can be really easy to be focused just on ourselves and our own country. We need to remember that God’s family is a world wide family. Many of our brothers and sisters throughout the world continue to suffer for their faith. Open Doors highlights the suffering of persecuted church and provides resources for informed prayer. Open Doors can be accessed at www.opendoors.org
