Victor Elliott

Victor was born on 23rd June in Belfast and grew up on the Woodvale Road. He attended Everton School and later Belfast Tech. At the age of 14, he started work as a messenger boy in Belfast Harbour, followed by a long career in the shipping and road haulage industry. He formed his own company, Roadliner International, managing it until his retirement in 1991.

Becoming a Christian in his late teens, he was involved throughout his life in committed Christian service in Albert St and West Kirk Presbyterian Churches. He went through The Lifeboys, and the company section of the Boys’ Brigade, eventually becoming Captain. Victor was an elder, Session Clerk, member of the choir, Sunday School Superintendent, Bible study group leader, and Treasurer of West Kirk Community Project, amongst other things.

In 1953 Victor married Eileen Nicholl and they were partners in life and Christian service for 57 years until her death in 2010. Victor and Eileen had four children, Vivien (married Noel), Colin (married Eth), John (married Brenda) and Linda (married Nigel), with an extended family of 9 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Victor was admitted to hospital in August 2021 following a stroke and passed away peacefully on 30th October in Abingdon Manor Care Home.

Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your LORD.
